What is Forest Therapy?

Forest therapy, often referred to as "forest bathing," is a unique wellness practice that invites you to immerse yourself in the natural world. It's a journey into the heart of nature, a gentle exploration of the verdant world around us. This isn't about hiking or identifying species, but about experiencing the forest through our senses - the rustle of leaves underfoot, the scent of pine in the air, the soft play of light and shadow.

This practice is deeply rooted in the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-Yoku, which translates to "forest bathing." Shinrin-Yoku is more than just a walk in the woods; it's about absorbing the forest through all our senses, about letting nature enter our body and mind. It's about acknowledging our intrinsic connection to the natural world, and allowing that connection to heal and rejuvenate us.

Guided by ANFT Certified guide, Nikki Zimmerman, participants are invited to slow down, to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature. The pace is unhurried, the focus is on the present moment, and the aim is to cultivate a deep sense of connection with the natural world.

The benefits of forest therapy are manifold. Studies have shown that it can help reduce stress, enhance focus, and boost mood. The forest environment, rich in natural tree oils known as phytoncides, can also bolster our immune system.

But perhaps the most profound benefit of forest therapy is the sense of peace and well-being that comes from being in nature. Whether it's the tranquility of a forest glade, the serenity of a mountain stream, or the simple joy of sunlight filtering through the trees, forest therapy is a reminder of the healing power of nature.
